CUTKD is open to all Columbia University students, faculty, staff, alumni, and affiliates who have current Dodge Fitness Center memberships.
Yes! No experience is needed. If you have an interest in Taekwondo, you can join as long as you have Dodge Fitness Center access. Many of our current team members (including black belts!) started in the club with no experience. Taekwondo is a great way to improve your fitness and challenge yourself to learn as much as possible. We train and grow together as a team.
The club dues for Spring 2022 are $60 for Columbia and Barnard undergraduate students, and $65 for Columbia graduate students, faculty, staff, alumni, and affiliates.
CUTKD offers a two-week trial period at the beginning of each semester! You are still required to register for the club, but you will receive a full refund if you decide Taekwondo is not for you. During our trial period, you are welcome to attend as many practices as you like! Practices in that time will focus on developing basic techniques.

Classes are held in Aerobics Room 3 (AR3), Aerobics Room 4 (AR4), and Wrestling Room in the Dodge Fitness Center. Dodge Fitness Center is located next to Havemeyer down a set of stairs.
To access AR3, turn right after entering Dodge and head towards the track. Cross the track and go down the stairs to your right one flight down.
To access AR4, also turn right after entering Dodge and head towards the track. Before crossing the track, turn right and follow along with the track.
To access Wrestling Room, go through the "squash courts" door, walk two flights down, and turn right. Then, turn right again, and there should be the Wrestling Room with the women's and men's bathrooms on both sides of the entrance.
Wear comfortable athletic clothes! If you have done TKD before, you are also welcome to wear your old uniform and belt.
Please remember Taekwondo is a barefoot sport, so short toenails and clean feet are a must! If your feet are prone to blistering, we do practice on wood (no mats!), so you are welcome to wear martial arts shoes or bring bandages/athletic tape just in case. Also don't forget to bring water and a positive attitude!
